The St Neots Players are proud to present a special production of this charming story adapted for the stage and especially written for younger children

One day a very busy ladybird was inspecting the roses that she looked after in the garden when she came across a little egg attached to a leaf. She hadn’t seen an egg like it before and she knew that it wasn’t a ladybird egg, so she kept her eye on it to see what it would turn into. Eventually a little green Caterpillar crawled out. Being a very motherly Ladybird, she looked after her and kept her safe from the birds. The little Caterpillar was always hungry and Ladybird helped her to find nice things to eat. Caterpillar missed Ladybird when she flew off to work in the rose garden and wished that she could be just like Ladybird. When Caterpillar had eaten lots of food and had grown bigger, she became very sleepy. Ladybird found her a nice dark and quiet place to go, where Caterpillar made a nice silky cocoon for herself and went to sleep. After a while Ladybird went to see how Caterpillar was getting on but she wasn’t there. As Ladybird looked around she was puzzled to see a beautiful Butterfly where Caterpillar had been. Caterpillar told Ladybird that she had changed into a Butterfly, so now she could be just like her and the two friends could both fly off to look after the roses together.
