Black Adder
May 2018
Act 1 – Bells
Act 2 – Beer
Act 3 – Chains
This May, The St. Neots Players are bringing three episodes of the hugely popular BBC TV series Blackadder to The Priory Centre stage.
If you saw The St. Neots Players previous stage adaptations of the popular television sitcoms Dad’s Army and The Vicar of Dibley you will know that our local theatre group are very good indeed at bringing the small screen to the big stage and Blackadder promises to be no exception.
The show, originally starring Rowan Atkinson, is made up with three episodes, Bells, Beers and Chains, from series two, set in the Elizabethan era. The script is from the original television series written by Richard Curtis and Ben Elton.
Richard Curtis, who owns the amateur rights to the show, allows any group to perform any episodes they wish, with the licence fee normally payable to the rights holder being paid directly to Comic Relief.
Director, Ian Francis said, “As a huge fan of all four Blackadder series myself, I’m very excited to be directing The St. Neots Players adaptation. You know it’s going to be a funny show when all the cast are still laughing at the gags even after hearing them for the umpteenth time – we’ve even had to adapt a scene or two to have the actors not look at each other otherwise they just could not keep a straight face!”
Performances are at 7:30pm Thursday 17th and Friday 18th May 2018 and two performances at 2:30pm and 7:30pm on Saturday 19th May 2018.
